Korea Seoul south

Lyberti flew in from Idaho to spend some last moments with Bauer before his departure to the MTC for his mission to Mexico City West, Mexico. While she was here we were driving home from somewhere and she said "I'm calling a family meeting when we get home." Prior to her coming home we had several talks over the phone about her applying for a head teacher position with ILP. She had hopes of returning to Vanuatu and expressed that there was only one position. Not knowing how many others were applying we talked about what it might look like if she got it. I thought her family meeting was to announce something about her returning to Vanuatu. Once we were all gathered in the front room she asked us where we thought she was going. I said back to Vanuatu and everyone else had their guesses that were yelled out with excitement.

Lyberti began to read from her phone but not to soon into her starting did we realize it was a mission call she was reading and not anything to do with ILP. Lyberti read through her call with a smile so full of determination and excitement. She finally reached and read the words, "you are hereby called to labor in the Korea Seoul South Mission.

After the family meeting concluded and littles were off to bed I got to visit with Lyberti a little. She shared with me her feelings when she first opened her call. She expressed that it was the last place she wanted to go and that she felt angry. She has a neat story on how she came to the decision to accept the call to Korea. In my words I'll try to retell her story. She expressed her anger about the location and how it was the last place she ever wanted to go. She said she called Bauer and read her call to him and shared her feelings of anger about the location. He told her to pray and he said that meant get down on her knees and pray. He said that the Lord wasn't punishing her. The Lord was saying I know that even though this is the last place you want to go that he trusted her to do so. She expressed that her heart was softened a bit with his advice. She told me how she made an appointment with her Bishop for some advice. When she met with him she expressed the same feelings of anger about the location. He asked her who she had told and what they had said. He then talked about a girl who had previously served there and asked if he could put them in touch with each other. They ended up getting in touch and this sweet girl started to teach Lyberti about the people of Korea and her experience there. This girl offered to start working with Lyberti to tutor her in the Korean language. Lyberti took her up on it and started learning. She face timed me after her first couple of meetings with this girl and shared what she had been learning which seemed way over my head and gave me anxiety for her. I have been so impressed with her dedication to learn the korean language.

Lyberti headed back to Idaho but planned to move home in April for her to start home MTC May 6th, 2026.

In Lyberti's farewell talk she explains how she began to see the small and simple things that testified to her that this is where she was meant to go. February 2, 2026 was the day she received her call, the same day Bauer started his home MTC. May 6th was the day she would start her own and she had recently found that her great Grandpa Sherwood started his mission on that same day many years earlier. Also the day she would report to the MTC in Provo, UT was the same day, a year ago that she left for her service in Vanuatu.
