week 17

Aug 31, 2026 Hello and welcome back to episode 17!! Word of the week is 천천히 (chonchonhee). This means slow. This was a slow week, and that's okay. Some significant events this week included: - a grandpa tried to give us money and then ran away saying he's a grandpa🤸‍♂️ - learned that the black grapes here taste like blueberries, still not quite sure how they are like that🫐🍇 - more rain (the umbrella has been helpful) - replied to and mailed some letters. I love sending letters! 📨 - daily swing on the zip line at the playground near our apartment 🪂 - I love my companion - creepy call, have to start locking the church doors😃 - stared at some giant fish in the river for much longer than we probably should have🐟 - explored some new areas🗺 - talked to a stranger in Korean by myself! WOOT WOOT🎉 - joined an aerobics group💃 OKAY the story of the week you've all been waiting for: all of last transfer (1.5 months) we had planned every week to join this aerobics class d...

week 16

Aug 23, 2026 Hello hello!! Last week was indeed supposed to be Week 15. Whoops. Okay okay how has everyone been these past 4 days?? Do tell. Word of the week is 당근 (dahnghun) (its so hard to type the english pronunciation for these) This means carrot. Carrots are yummy. This has noting to do with the rest of the email haha. These past 4 days have been pretty chaotic. Friday we traveled to Seoul again for a conference with Elder Bednar! It was combined with the Seoul missionaries so I got to see Sister Laban and Sister Wilkinson who i was in the MTC with! After the conference my comps separated and went with their new comps and I was throw in a temporary trio for the night. We slept over at the Suji ward sister's apartment. One of the sister's I was with had a 6:30am bus she had to catch here in Bundang, which meant waking up at 5am, leaving the house at 5:30, and a 20min walk to the subway station with their luggage. We walked out the door. Oh what's that? Pouring ...

week 15

Aug 19, 2026 HEY HEY HEY! Welcome back! Word of the week is 사랑 (sahrahng) This means love! You might be wondering, why didn't she send her email? Did she forget? Is she okay? Well, no I did not forget, and I am okay! My prep day this week was moved to Wednesday because we are going to the Seoul temple! Sit back, relax, grab a snack, buckle up because... THERE IS SO MUCH THAT I WANT TO TELL YOU! This week was absolutely filled with miracles. I wish I could sit down with each of you personally and tell you every single one in detail. Here's a list of all I wish I could tell you more about: - my second exchange!! We saw so many miracles this day! - my 3rd exchange - the guy we met in the book store with his magnifying glass - the kids in the ice cream shop - my Korean dream - as I'm writing this I'm realizing I'm actually going to touch on all of these a little bit... First of all... transfer calls!! I will be staying here in Bundang for my second transfer! B...

week 14

AUG 10,2026 Hello everyone! The word of the day is 음식 (eumsheek) This means food. Let's just take a moment to discuss what I have eaten here haha. Here's a list of the interesting stuff: - sea cucumber - ground eel soup - octopus - raw marinated squid - intestine (not sure what kind) - mussels and clams - pig feet - abalone Some of the less interesting normal things: - seaweed soup - kimchi stew - soup with an entire half a chicken just sitting in broth - lots of spam and rice and seaweed - bread with red bean paste inside - lots of chewy rice cakes - yakgwah!! My favorite snack. It's like a honey cookie. If you can find them on Amazon or something I highly recommend. ALSO! I GOT MY PHONE! In some ways it was nice to live without a phone for a month. But now I have uploaded all the pictures from my first month here! https://photos.app.goo.gl/2mHSSBgq2RK6ajNR6 This week felt very long. We had sisters conferences where we had some trainings and played a fun relay game!...

week 13

Aug 2,2026 HELLO EVERYONE!! Word of the week is 버스 (bohseh). This means bus haha. Update!! My phone is ready and I will get it this week!! So I will be able to upload photos next week! I want to focus on 2 days from the week. We decided to go to a new library we have never been to before. It's about an hour and a half away.  We get off the bus and we start walking to the library. It's located in a sort of nature park. We talked to 2 guys who said they couldn't talk long because they had somewhere to be and they were meeting someone. We proceeded to run into them 4 more times around the park which was pretty funny.  But after talking with them another guy walked up to us and said he had talked with missionaries before and after pondering what they shared with him, he wants to know more. This was incredible and we ended up standing there talking with him for over an hour about church and scripture. He did also explain the theory of evolution to us and pointed to trees near us...

week 12

July 26, 2026 Hello everyone!! The word of the week is 기적 (keejeok) This means miracle! I have seen many 기적s. There is SO MUCH to talk about this week and I am so excited to share with you. Small update, I still do not have a phone. I am actually the only one without one now. They're still working on it. Prepare for the flood of photos that will be coming once I get it. This week is the first time I felt true and pure joy about being here. I genuinely didn't mind not having a phone, wasn't worried about it at all. Wasn't hesitant to talk to people. Wasn't focusing on how excited I would be at the end of my mission when I come home. Wasn't focusing on how much I miss Idaho.  This week we were walking down some alleyways and we found an old lady siting on the steps of an old apartment building. Her earrings didn't match and her clothes were worn. We stopped and talked with her about her life. We shared a scripture with her and I handed her my book of mormon. S...

week 11

July 20,2026   안녕하세요 여러분 Hello everyone! Let's talk about the week! My companion 김유림 자매님 lost her wallet in the mall and we didn't realize it til we got home. We had 10 minutes before we had to be somewhere so we rushed back to the mall and ran up the escalators to the stores we had been to. The store we spend the most time in doesn't have a worker, just a self checkout machine. We looked everywhere and even called the number for help but they didn't have it. We left and went to English class. After class, we came home and searched the house but still nothing. We even went to the security room in the mall to ask if they had it. We were feeling very discouraged and we prayed that we would be guided and able to find the wallet. We were running late and had a member meal to be at so we rushed to the subway station. On the subway, we talked with a sweet old man and we shared that she had lost her wallet and couldn't find it. He said we should try calling the polic...
